Greener Today, Stronger Tomorrow: Enrile MSMEs Level Up Through Green Productivity Training

March 3, 2026

Productivity met sustainability head-on as the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board II (RTWPB II), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Enrile and the Department of Labor and Employment – Cagayan Field Office, brought green innovation to the forefront during the one-day capacity-building training, “Green Productivity Towards Greener Industrialization,” conducted on February 25, 2026.

A total of 57 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Enrile participated in the activity, gaining practical strategies on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and embedding sustainability into their operations—because in today’s economy, green is not just a color, it’s a competitive edge.

In his message, Miguel B. Decena Jr. underscored the vital role of MSMEs in driving local economic growth and reaffirmed the municipality’s strong commitment to supporting the business sector through forward-looking initiatives.

“Our MSMEs are the backbone of Enrile’s economy. By strengthening their productivity and guiding them toward sustainable practices, we are building a more resilient and progressive municipality,” Mayor Decena said.

He further highlighted that before entering public service, his enterprise, MB Decena Livestock, was adjudged a national winner during the Productivity Olympics in 2015—proving that productivity excellence is not theory, but practice.

Also present during the activity were Vice Mayor Alexander Iringan, Sangguniang Bayan Members Christina Magbitang and Agapita Macarubbo, Municipal Community Development Officer Emilio Carag, PESO Manager Emirrose Madriaga, and Business Permits and Licensing Officer Grachielle Mabborang.

The technical sessions were facilitated by Atty. Lovely Mei R. Dela Cruz, CPA, Officer-in-Charge of RTWPB RO2, who discussed minimum wage policies, wage exemption, and facility evaluation. Gloria M. Alvarado, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, delivered a lecture on general labor standards. Francis Joseph M. Reyes, Information Technology Officer I, and Junel G. Soriano, Admin Assistant I, shared actionable insights on green productivity strategies tailored specifically for MSMEs.

Through this collaborative effort, Enrile’s local enterprises are now better equipped to operate smarter, waste less, comply better, and grow stronger—positioning the municipality as a champion of sustainable and inclusive economic development. (Francis Joseph M. Reyes)
