Iloilo City hosted the Capacity-Building on Data Generation and Analysis Using the Stata Statistical Software on March 02-05, 2026. A total of twenty-one (21) officials and personnel from the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) II, III, CAR, VI, VII and VIII were trained by professors from the University of the Philippines School of Economics primarily on the use of Stata, a general-purpose statistical software for data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and automated reporting.
Aligned with NWPC’s thrust to further capacitate the Regional Boards in fulfilling their mandates effectively, the participants developed skills in data visualization and the preparation of formal statistical reports tailored to the specific needs of the Commission. A transition from making policy based on assumptions to utilizing “data crunching” as an indispensable tool was given emphasis. This ensures that future wage-setting is evidence-based and takes into consideration the ever-changing socio-economic conditions. Lastly, the training empowered the participants to ensure that wage policy formulation is grounded in rigorous analysis.
NWPC Executive Director Maria Criselda R. Sy also graced the activity and joined the participants during the whole duration of the training held at Smallville21 Hotel.
