The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has received the Order of the Regional Trial Court of Pasig City, Branch 152, granting an injunction against the implementation of Wage Order No. NCR-27, subject to the posting of a ₱10-billion bond.

While respecting the Court’s Order, the NWPC stands firmly by the validity of the Wage Order and the integrity of the process undertaken by the RTWPB-NCR in accordance with its mandate, applicable laws, and rules.

The regional wage-setting mechanism under Republic Act No. 6727 has operated for more than three decades and has been continuously strengthened through experience, jurisprudence, and updated rules. It is neither an untested process nor one devised only for the present Wage Order.

We will defend this mechanism as an instrument of social justice that protects vulnerable workers while balancing the interests of labor, management, and government. The NWPC and RTWPB-NCR will coordinate with the Office of the Solicitor General and pursue the appropriate legal remedies.

The public may be assured that the other RTWPBs will continue to assess regional socioeconomic conditions and perform their mandates through independent tripartite deliberations. The NWPC will provide the necessary technical and policy guidance throughout their respective wage-review processes.
