2021 NWPC-RTWPB Planning Exercise

The NWPC and RTWPBs concluded its corporate planning exercise via Zoom on February 9-11, 2021. It was attended by the Usec. Ana C. Dione, NWPC officers, DOLE Regional Directors, and Board Secretaries and resource persons from BSP, NEDA, DTI, and DA.


In her opening message, Undersecretary Dione asked how NWPC would contribute to DOLE’s National Economic Recovery Strategy (NERS). She emphasized that the purpose of planning exercise was to discuss innovative ways to make wage and productivity programs relevant by developing wages and productivity programs and implementation strategies that would help MSMEs recover on the impact of pandemic.


During the first day, different government agencies presented relevant topics to guide NWPC and RTWPB officers in the decision making/planning for 2021. BSP’s Senior Director Zeno Ronald R. Abenoja presented recent financial trends, outlook, and fiscal economic policy measures. NEDA’s Undersecretary Rosemarie G. Edillon discussed the country’s 2020 macroeconomic performance and outlook for 2021.


Ms. Perpetua Werlina R. Lim of DTI presented the 2021 supply, price outlook for basic necessities and prime commodities while Mr. Ardibel Villanueva of DA gave an overview of the and prime agricultural and fishery commodities.


During the second day, Deputy Executive Director Jeanette T. Damo presented DOLE’s policy directions and NWPC thrusts on wages and productivity as well as the DOLE’s NERS 2021-2023. She underscored the NWPC’s role in the program’s strategic framework specifically on: 1) Business Continuity Planning and Management (under Pillar 2: Supporting Enterprises, Jobs and Income) and 2) Conduct of webinars/learning sessions (under Pillar 4: Trusting Social Dialogue to Encourage Innovative Solutions).


Director Elvira P. Jota and Director Alvin B. Curada meanwhile presented the 2021 targets and commitments for the technical services and policy and research services, respectively. The agreements on those commitments were then discussed on the third day of the planning exercise where Director Jamie Lyn D. Jamias also discussed the administrative and financial concerns of NWPC.
