NWPC awards the 2019 PO winners, best RTWPB

The 2019 Productivity Olympics awarded eight MSME national winners on October 4, 2019 at the Sheraton Manila Bay (formerly Pan Pacific Hotel), Malate, Manila.


Speaking on behalf of DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, Acting Secretary Claro A. Arellano congratulated the MSME-winners for their productivity practices that not only improved business performance but also benefited workers through various forms of gainsharing schemes. Calling them good business practice, Acting Secretary Arellano said these serve as inspiration for the Department to continuously help enterprises and workers in promoting mutual interests that contribute to economic development.


Meanwhile, Executive Director Maria Criselda R. Sy, in her Welcome Remarks, revealed that the next Productivity Olympics in 2021 would focus on the application of digital technologies in productivity improvement programs. She also hoped for more MSMEs joining the 2021 event.


The 2019 national winners were:  Agribusiness Sector  –  Jida Aqua Resources (Caraga Region) and Vicky’s Pili and Food Products (Bicol Region), Industry Sector –  Bahi Enterprises (Bicol Region), 3D Container & Packaging Philippines Corporation (CALABARZON), and Cagayan 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Cagayan Valley Region), and Service Sector – Coffee for Peace (Davao Region), Baguio-Benguet Community Credit Cooperative (Cordillera Administrative Region), and JMH Microfinance, Inc. (Bicol Region).


The national winners each received a cash award of P100,000, trophy, and priority endorsements to other DOLE training programs and services.


Special citations were also given to selected MSME finalists for their notable business performance, namely HHS Leather Goods Enterprises (CALABARZON), Narda’s Handwoven Arts and Crafts, Inc. (Cordillera Administrative Region), and Cagayan Appliance Center (Cagayan Valley Region).


Meanwhile, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Bicol won the 2019 Best Regional Board.


Following the awarding ceremonies, the NWPC and the RTWPBs organized a simple event to celebrate former Undersecretary Ciriaco A. Lagunzad III’s retirement.   Paying their tribute to Undersecretary Lagunzad were Dir. Sinio Cano, speaking on behalf of the Regional Directors, Ms. Nesa Singson, on behalf of the Board Secretaries, NWPC Commissioner Lucila Tarriela, on behalf of the Management Sector and RTWPB-IX Board Member Jose Suan, on behalf of the Labor Sector
