RTWPB-CAR Staff gain insights on Digital Signatures and Securing Online Identity

April 24, 2026

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Cordillera Administrative Region (RTWPB-CAR) hosted an orientation on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) and Digital Signature on 21 April 2026. Held at the RTWPB-CAR Conference Room, the session aimed to equip staff with a clear understanding of secure electronic transactions and paperless signing tools.

Speakers from the Department of Information and Communication Technology – CAR, Edgar Allen Apalla and Frauline Bentayon, led the discussion. They explained how the PNPKI works as a government-backed system that verifies online identities, much like a digital ID card. They also demonstrated how digital signatures provide a safe and legally recognized way to sign documents electronically, reducing the need for physical paperwork.

The RTWPB-CAR staff learned about the practical benefits of these technologies, including faster document processing, improved security, and cost savings. The orientation supports ongoing efforts to modernize government operations and promote efficient, trustworthy digital services across the region. (Albert M. Palma)
