The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board–I (RTWPB-I) joined the Department of Labor and Employment–Regional Office I (DOLE – RO I) in the simultaneous celebration of the 124th Labor Day, held across the four provinces of Region I on 01 May 2026.

This year’s celebration carried the theme: “Disenteng Trabaho Para Sa Lahat: Iisang Hangarin, Bagong Pilipinas Sama-samang Mararating.”

From the early hours of the morning, venues were filled with long lines of job seekers. A total of 418 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS), while many others progressed to final interviews, marking a promising start to their respective career journeys.

Throughout the event, the RTWPB-I Secretariat maintained a dedicated information booth where they promoted various training programs designed to enhance the competencies of both workers and employers. They also actively encouraged employers to adopt Productivity-Based Incentive Schemes (PBIS), emphasizing how fair compensation and efficient work practices can foster mutual growth and sustainability for both businesses and employees.

As Region I commemorates the 124th Labor Day, the celebration stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of Ilocano workers, whose invaluable contributions continue to drive the region’s growth and development. (Dino S. Dizon)
