The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-4B (RTWPB-MIMAROPA), in collaboration with the Palawan Tourism Council (PTC), conducted the Green Productivity Towards Greener Industrialization training for PTC member-businesses on June 17, 2026, in Brgy. San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City.

The free training program underscored productivity and environmental performance as twin drivers of socioeconomic development, highlighting benefits such as cost reduction, risk mitigation, revenue growth, and tax incentives, while linking green productivity to the broader circular economy and its applications across micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) value chains.

Participants gained practical, low or no-cost knowledge on the 3Rs, 7S Good Housekeeping, energy and water efficiency, and other green initiatives, drawing from real-world examples and measurable savings.

Using the EARTH methodology: Engage, Align, Roll-out, Track, and Harmonize, attendees worked through case studies and group activities to design their own green productivity plans.

For PTC members, the training translated to reduced operating costs, improved competitiveness, a stronger brand reputation as clean and responsible enterprises, and better compliance with environmental regulations.

While MSMEs in Palawan and Puerto Princesa City are already known for their environmental consciousness, the training offered an added layer of learning to help them further position as models of sustainability, while strengthening employee engagement and community participation.

Ms. Deborah “Debbie” Tan, owner of Puerto Pension Inn, expressed appreciation for the training, sharing that despite her establishment’s track record, she still gained valuable insights on how engaging both business and people in environmental protection can go hand-in-hand with productivity.

This initiative marks the first collaboration between RTWPB-MIMAROPA and the Palawan Tourism Council on productivity training for PTC members, reinforcing the Board’s continuing mandate to bring innovative, people-centered, and excellence-driven productivity programs closer to its MSME clients across the region.
