NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
MARIKINA CITY – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR), in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry-National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) and the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), conducted a whole-day convergence program that provided productivity training and orientation session for Marikina City business owners engaged in the Shoes and Leather Goods industry on 07 May 2026, at the DTI’s Center for Innovation and Technology (CITE).
Ms. Luchie Atienza, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of RTWPB-NCR, facilitated the morning session, which focused on Lean Management, an approach to organizational management that emphasizes maximizing customer value while minimizing waste and promoting continuous process improvement.
During the afternoon session, Mr. Michael Arriesgado of DTI-NCRO introduced the agency’s programs and services available to MSMEs. Mr. Joel Leonard Santarina, IT Officer of RTWPB-NCR, discussed Productivity-Based Incentive Schemes (PBIS), a formal mechanism for promoting productivity improvement and gainsharing within enterprises.
To conclude the training session, Mr. Gemries Perona, Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE-NCR, conducted an in-depth orientation on the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program (DOLE-AMP). The program provides targeted support to workers and MSME employers to help them prepare for, cope with, and adjust to economic disruptions through job preservation, skills upgrading, and enterprise resilience initiatives.
The convergence activity highlights the government’s collaborative efforts to strengthen MSMEs and support workers through capacity-building initiatives, productivity enhancement programs, and targeted assistance measures. (Joel Leonard M. Santarina)
