The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board–Region X (RTWPB-X) conducted a series of orientations, trainings, and technical assistance activities in the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro on August 14, 18, and 19, 2026.

Held in partnership with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) field offices, the three-day series highlighted RTWPB-X’s continuing efforts to promote wage policies and a culture of productivity, employee engagement, organizational development, and continuous workplace improvement across Northern Mindanao.

Wage and productivity awareness

The RTWPB-X conducted a wage and productivity orientation for the transport sector in Iligan City on August 14. The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of how fair compensation and improved productivity can work hand in hand to build sustainable, productive workplaces.

On the same day, RTWPB-X conducted a Productivity Toolbox training on Employee Engagement for personnel of Heavens Bakehaus & Enterprise. The session emphasized how employees are important partners in achieving organizational success.

The training underscored that employees who feel valued and involved are more likely to contribute their ideas, skills, and best efforts toward improving workplace productivity and business performance.

Improving Productivity through Employee Engagement focuses on helping MSMEs recognize the value of actively involving their employees and offers practical techniques for implementing effective engagement activities to boost overall productivity.

Meanwhile, RTWPB-X also conducted a facility evaluation at R & S Restaurant in Iligan City. The activity assessed the facilities provided to employees and supported the proper determination of the value of facilities in accordance with applicable labor standards and wage regulations.

Facility evaluation is a form of evaluation conducted to determine the fair and reasonable value of facilities furnished by an employer to his/her employees.

Values-driven human resource interventions

The productivity drive continued in Cagayan de Oro City on August 18, where employees of Cagayan Corn Products Corporation participated in the ISTIV-Bayanihan training.

The training introduced participants to the core ISTIV values of Industriousness, Systematic Work, Time Consciousness, Innovativeness, and Strong Value for Work—workplace values that encourage employees to become active contributors to productivity improvement.

It emphasized the importance of working smarter rather than harder, improving the quality of work, making better use of time and resources, embracing innovation, and working together toward common organizational goals.

ISTIV Bayanihan aims to enhance the management practices of micro enterprises, including Barangay Micro Business Enterprises, to foster their growth.

Helping MSMEs see the bigger picture

The RTWPB-X conducted an Organization Development training for representatives of various MSMEs on August 19. The activity encouraged participants to look beyond individual employee performance and view productivity from a broader organizational perspective.

Discussions highlighted how improvements in people, processes, organizational structures, workplace systems, and strategies can contribute to better overall business performance. It examined how improvements in communication, teamwork, work processes, employee development, and organizational systems can translate into better service, lower costs, improved efficiency, and stronger competitiveness.

Participants were encouraged to assess their own organizations, identify areas for improvement, and recognize that sustainable productivity requires the participation of both management and workers.

Advancing Productivity via Organization Development explains the concept, phases, and categories of organization development and equips participants in designing and implementing appropriate strategies to improve enterprise productivity. (Nicolo Lorenzo P. Cano)
