RTWPB XII conducts Green Productivity convergence, training

April 17, 2026

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board XII (RTWPB-XII) conducted an area-wide convergence and training on Green Productivity Towards Greener Industrialization in General Santos City on 15 April 2026.

A total of 60 participants from 33 micro, small, and medium enterprises participated in the

Activity, which served as a valuable venue for enterprises to better understand how productivity and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

Through the training, participants were encouraged to look at their day-to-day operations and identify practical ways to lessen waste, improve efficiency, and create safer and greener workplaces.

Randy Oliver Legada, Information Technology Officer I, discussed the concepts and principles of Green Productivity, emphasizing that businesses do not have to choose between growth and sustainability.

“Green Productivity reminds us that improving business performance and caring for the environment can work together. When enterprises reduce waste and use resources wisely, they become both productive and responsible,” Legada said.

Ms. Karen Mae Arellano, Administrative Assistant III, led the discussion on the tools, practices, and techniques of Green Productivity. She highlighted simple and practical measures that MSMEs can adopt in their workplaces to reduce costs, improve processes, and support environmental goals.

“Even small changes in daily operations can lead to meaningful results. Green practices are not only good for the environment—they are also good for business,” Arellano said.

Ms. Christine Dugando, Labor and Employment Officer III, explained the EARTH Cycle of Green Productivity, a helpful guide for enterprises in identifying problems, analyzing processes, developing solutions, and sustaining improvements. She noted that the cycle encourages continuous action and reflection among enterprises.

“The EARTH Cycle helps enterprises move from awareness to action. It gives them a clear path in making improvements that are practical, measurable, and sustainable,” Dugando explained.

The convergence activity was conducted in collaboration with NCMB-XII and ECC-XII, further enriching the session through complementary workplace programs. ECC-XII discussed the Employees’ Compensation Program, which promotes worker protection and welfare, while NCMB-XII presented its Alternative Dispute Resolution Program, highlighting peaceful and practical approaches in addressing labor-management concerns.

Green Productivity Towards Greener Industrialization promotes sustainable industrial development by applying systematic approaches like the EARTH cycle to enhance productivity and environmental performance across production, distribution, and consumption systems. (Randy Oliver Legada)
