RTWPB-XII conducts ISTIV Bayanihan training for OFW beneficiaries

May 22, 2026

Around 290 Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) beneficiaries and their family members participated in an ISTIV Bayanihan Training on 23 April 2026 spearheaded by the RTWPB-XII in partnership with the Department of Migrant Workers Region XII (DMW-XII).

The activity, held at the Hinugyaw Hall, Supermarket Building 2, City of Koronadal, South Cotabato, provided OFW families with practical knowledge and productivity skills to help improve their livelihood and day-to-day financial management.

The training tackled Productivity Concepts, ISTIV Values, Marketing, Stock Control, Organization, and Basic Bookkeeping. Participants were introduced to practical techniques on how to handle small businesses, manage finances responsibly, improve productivity, and maximize available resources for sustainable income opportunities.

Ms. Christine B. Dugando, Labor and Employment Officer III, discussed Productivity Concepts, ISTIV Values, Marketing, and Stock Control, encouraging participants to apply productivity principles not only in business but also in everyday life.

“Hindi kailangang malaki agad ang puhunan para magsimula. Ang mahalaga ay marunong tayong magplano, magtipid, at maging produktibo sa anumang meron tayo,” she said, encouraging participants to develop a mindset focused on growth, discipline, and resilience.

Meanwhile, Ms. Angel Kris C. Alcantara facilitated the discussion on Organization, where participants learned the importance of proper planning, workplace arrangement, and systematic processes in improving efficiency. Ms. Gracie Mae S. Gonzales also guided the participants through Basic Bookkeeping, stressing the value of keeping accurate records of income and expenses.

“Kapag alam mo kung saan napupunta ang kinikita mo, mas makakagawa ka ng tamang desisyon para sa pamilya at negosyo,” Gonzales said, highlighting how financial discipline can help families become more financially secure.

The sessions opened new perspectives on how participants can better manage remittances, start small livelihood ventures, and prepare for long-term financial stability while their loved ones continue working abroad.

ISTIV Bayanihan aims to enhance the management practices of micro enterprises, including Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) to foster their growth.

Meanwhile, ISTIV-Productivity Awareness Program provides a values-driven human resource intervention for quality and productivity improvement by developing five key attributes in employees: Industrious, Systematic, Time-conscious, Innovative, and a strong Value for Work. (Randy Oliver Legada)
