Over 1.1 million minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) are set to receive an 85-peso increase in daily wages as the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) finalize a new regional wage order for NCR.

DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino announced the increase before market vendors and construction workers in Malabon City during the “Pulong Talakayan kasama si Secretary Tolentino” event, noting that the adjustment is the largest single daily minimum wage increase ever enacted in Metro Manila.

“Bilang pagsunod din sa tagubilin ng ating mahal na Pangulong Marcos, itinataas po natin ang sweldo ng lahat ng manggagawa dito sa Metro Manila. Makikinabang po ay 1.1M daily wage earners. Itinataas po natin sa isang makasaysayang P85 increase. Pinakamataas po ang P85 bawat araw sa pribadong sektor, ang pagtaas po ay ibibigay sa dalawang hulog,” Secretary Tolentino stated.

Secretary Tolentino also thanked the employer sector for its support of the minimum wage increase.

The historic wage increase is a testament to Secretary Tolentino’s commitment to fulfill President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s marching order: to raise and uphold the dignity of the Filipino workers.

Upon Wage Order No. NCR-27, minimum wage earners in NCR shall receive a daily wage of PHP 780 for non-agriculture sectors, while PHP 743 for agriculture (plantation and non-plantation); service/retail establishments employing 15 workers or less; and manufacturing establishments regularly employing fewer than 10 workers. The increase will be delivered in two tranches: P60 upon the Wage Order’s effectivity on July 25, 2026, and an additional P25 on January 20, 2027.

Secretary Tolentino also thanked the employers for their support and reminded them to adhere to the wage order, emphasizing the importance of the adjustment in assisting minimum wage earners and their families.

The Department, through the National Wages and Productivity Commission and the concerned Wage Board, shall undertake information campaigns to ensure compliance and to provide assistance to enterprises in correcting possible wage distortions.

Other regional wage boards are conducting reviews and consultations in response to the President’s directive to begin assessments within 60 days before the anniversary dates of their latest wage orders.
