Sultan Kudarat Coops undergo training on business continuity, resiliency

May 22, 2026

The RTWPB-XII conducted a Business Continuity and Resiliency Planning (BCRP) Training for officers and members of the Sitio Lagon Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SILAFAMPCO) at Sultan Kudarat on 07 May 2026.

Organized in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XII–Sultan Kudarat, the activity aimed to equip DTI-assisted cooperatives with practical knowledge and strategies to prepare for disasters, emergencies, and other disruptions that may affect their operations and livelihoods. Participants learned how to identify risks, protect their resources, and sustain their operations during challenging situations.

Ms. Christine B. Dugando, Labor and Employment Officer III of RTWPB-XII, discussed the importance of Business Continuity Planning (BCP) in strengthening organizational resilience and improving preparedness at the community level. She emphasized that planning ahead is essential in minimizing the impact of unexpected events on both businesses and workers.

“Hindi natin mapipigilan ang sakuna, pero maaari tayong maging handa upang hindi tuluyang maapektuhan ang kabuhayan ng ating mga kooperatiba,” Dugando said.

During the workshop session, participants actively developed their own action plans and monitoring mechanisms with the guidance of Ms. Angel Kris C. Alcantara of RTWPB-XII.

Participants identified priority activities to be implemented within the next three months, including safety measures, coordination procedures, and continuity actions to ensure faster response during emergencies. They also recognized the value of establishing clear communication channels and maintaining updated emergency contact information inside their cooperative facilities.

Aside from improving disaster preparedness, the activity also strengthened the participants’ understanding of productivity, risk management, and organizational planning.

BCRP assists MSMEs in developing and implementing strategies that mitigate the impact of disruptions and disasters, ensure continuity and resilience, and contribute to environmental sustainability. (Randy Oliver Legada)
