NWPC releases advisory on wage distortion

To guide enterprises in correcting wage distortion stemming from the implementation of minimum wage orders, the National Wages and Productivity Commission issued Wage Advisory No. 1, Series of 2023 on 14 August 2023. The newly released advisory reiterates relevant provisions of the Labor Code and jurisprudence on the matter, outlines how instances of wage distortion may be recognized, and provides suggested formulas with sample computations for addressing and correcting these distortions. RTWPB-IVA and DOLE Cavite Provincial Office conducted a learning session on the implementation of of the 2nd tranche of minimum wage increase to various companies at the First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE) on January 19, 2023. RTWPB-I promoted its programs and services during DOLE Region 1’s ADALEN session on January 13, 2023. Atty. Romina Boado-Cabrillos, Board Secretary of RTWPB-I, served as one of the resource speakers. DOLE issues 16 wage orders

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), thru the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards, issued 16 wage orders across the regions in 2022. In a year-end report, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) announced that the wages of workers in private establishments were raised from 31 pesos to 110 pesos, and 500 pesos to 2,500 pesos for the kasambahay.
